Lars Thrane Heading Sensor, Thoughts?

My new Furuno 1815 radar works fine, but it needs heading sensor input over NMEA 0183 to interpret "own ship" GPS and AIS target information in the radar context. I also need a heading sensor for any autopilot I wish to install. I have a steel boat with an aluminum pilothouse roof; I used to run a KVH AC103 fluxgate compass without issues, so my question is does anyone have this unit and what do you think of it?

If not, what do the steel sailboat owners have for heading sensors/satellite compasses and how do you find they integrate into radar and/or autopilots? Looking for real-life endorsements or critiques, please.

I'm surprised that no one seems to have used this heading sensor. All I can hear are crickets.
