Looking for BSB maps for open CPN

I've successfully downloaded Open CPN on my laptop with a usb GPS but cannot find BSB maps anywhere (i.e. without elaborate conversion utilities). I just want to try this out - I boat in the Florida gulf coast - intracoastals - anyone know where I can download some maps? (from Port Richey to Crystal River). Or..... maybe I have the wrong app????

What about reading the manual, notably Chart Sources | Official OpenCPN Homepage? Where it mentions US waters is a link to Obtain Charting Products where you are just one click from RNC Downloads

Pavel, I did go to that site, and downloaded the RNC's for Florida, but when I pick a BSB and apply, the view does not change. GPS is working on the app ( the "boat" is where I'm at). I'll read more through the manual - I was just expecting a different view.....

Are you picking a specific map? If so, you shouldn't be. You pick the directory that the map is in. OpenCPN will find the maps under the directory.

On my setup, I have a "BSB_ROOT" directory. Under that are many directories with names like "411," "1113A," "11378," and so on. Inside each of those subdirectories are the actual bsb files. In OpenCPN, my chart setup only points to the top level "BSB_ROOT" directory. OpenCPN figures everything else out from there, and all the charts appear just fine.
