Magellan 5200DX GPS

I have this "ancient" unit on my boat with antenna, cables, etc. It works fine. Is there any reason to keep it? I have a Garmin GPS chart plotter, but if that went down on me, the Magellan would at least give me lat lon cordinates.

Pretty old (80-90s?). Pre-WAAS.

Do you have a smartphone with GPS (any relatively new phone)? Likely that will provide as good (likely better...) GPS plus many excellent navigation apps.

I´ve had 3 boats with "old" fix installed units. Unless you go out for the day, stay with a portable unit you can safe when in storm underway. The fix installed units are unreliable and smartphone and that crap, throw it overboard. You will not survive with that junk.

The best so far is the Garmin GPS 78. Payable charts and easy plotting on OpenCPN....
