Magellan eXplorist GC Handheld GPS

Has anyone used this unit outside of the US? Will it pick up a signal in, say, the southern Caribbean? (I ask because not all handheld units seem to be able to 'find themselves' if you take them out to sea). It is designed with something called 'geocaching' (whatever that is) in mind, and I'm wondering if like my old Magellan 315 it will just display basic lat/long, speed and heading. It seems unfathomable that it wouldn't, but I'd like to make sure, esp. since the specs don't mention it, and the geek at Best Buy had no idea.
