Moving a boat from Erie, PA to NYC

I'm looking at purchasing a sailboat in Erie, PA which I need to move to NY Harbor. What's the most cost effective way to accomplish this?

Depends on if you are time rich or money rich.

If you are time rich, the Erie Canal is nice.

If you are money rich, trailer is the fast method.

Drop the mast and travel the Erie canal. It's a nice journey, easy pace. A week does it if you push. A few extra days makes it relaxed. Free tie ups on both sides of each lock as well as some free town docks.
Make sure all parts are open before you go.
