Re: Navigation through the strait of Gibraltar from west to east

All good advice above.
I would only add is that if you decide to go into the Gib anchorage avoid the hours of darkness. It is very crowded and buisy. I consider myself fairly experienced but became very confused entering in the early hours of the morning.

The marinas in Gib are slighly cheaper, but crowded, grotty, and generally lower quality than La Linea's Alcadiesa marina. I found that the nightlife in La Linea was better too. On weekdays Gib tends to go to sleep by 11. You can easily be out partying until 3am at least on any weekday in La Linea.

A counter opinion here...the marina may be nice in La Linea, but as far as restaurants, nightlife, and an overall fun environment I would always got to Gib. The marinas may be older and have fewer modern perks, but you are in Gibraltar. It's awesome.

When I left Gib E bound into the Med, I just stayed close to the headland (Europa Point I think?) and passed through quite easily.

Enjoy your trip.

PS Don’t forget to top on diesel. That’s why there are so many ships anchored there.
