Need Advice Connecting GPS to Garmin nRoute

Hi All, I am having a heck of time getting my Globalsat BT 359 Bluetooth GPS receiver to Garmin nRoute/blue chart. I did get the GPS to cominucate with Globalsat's Signal Tool through COM 10, but when I go to nRoute and select COM 10 through the "Select GPS Device" button it says that "COM 10 Does not exist" In fact any COM # I chose in nRoute say that it does not exist?? Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I am following the GPS setup instructions in nRoute all to no avail.. Thanks for any help, Meck

Check in the device manager which com ports that exist on your computer.
To get to the device manager, click start->settings->control panel->system->hardware->device manager.
My bluetooth comports are from 21 - 29.

Try a small inexpensive program called Franson GpsGate. It gives you multiple user definable ports from a single input and one of them can be a Garmin Emulated port. nRoute doesn't or will not run on a normal NMEA 0183 protocol. Hope this helps.
Mark.

Mark is right, you have to get either a Garmin GPS or GPSGate. I looked for a freebie some years ago, couldn't find it. I opted for GPSGate as it allows me to run nRoute/Bluechart and a "real" navigation program with lower quality maps simultaniously.

Good luck, Klaas
