According to your Google play settings concerning application update (usually set to Wi-fi only) it should be updated as soon as your will be connected to Wi-Fi

Hi Fred, great app, had the chance to try it out last week. I was looking for smth similar going to implement a waterproof smartphone instead of the (expensive) marine instruments.

There are many suggestions already, I also add my cent... I have a Cetrek display with speed display and a speed graph which i find very informative -- this would be a combination of GPS Info & Graph display in SailFreeGPS.


I could also vote for tracks, log, anchor,... as others already mentioned. But I believe more you put there, heavier the program will become (today it's nice light).

What programmed did some time ago was also to analyse the track for fastest average speed over time intervals (2 secs, 10, minute,...) or distance (10m, 20m,...1 mile, 5 miles) - comes from the times I had a beach cat looking for speed.

I have released this morning a new version containing :

• the possibility to add up to 3 waypoints
• the bearing (from your position to the waypoint) displayed when you move your waypoint
• an accelerated start-up for old device

I have also added a small adv banner on the map screen. Like this wife will accept more easily all the hours I spend developping this app

You can now share your waypoint via SMS, E-mail, WhatsApp, ... and import it by copying the received message to the clipboard and pressing "import from clipboard" button...

I am starting to add a new layout "Regatta"
It should contain :

• a timer/countdown with following buttons:
  • Start
  • Stop
  • Reset
  • +30s
  • +5s
  • +1s
  • -1s
  • -5s
  • -30s
• a map showing the departure line and your track/position

I am looking for advices of what should be part of this screen as I do not practice regatta.

Forget about buttons for start, stop and adding/subtracting seconds. They're not needed.

You should just have buttons to start or reset a countdown at 10, 5, 4 and 1 minutes before the start.

You should also have beeps at each minute and at 10, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 seconds before the start and at the start.

If you are going to show the start line, you should create it by clicking on buttons when you are at the port and starboard ends of the line


IOW, you should have:
1. two separate groups of buttons: 4 buttons to start/reset the countdown and 2 buttons to set the ends of the start line.
2. A large "time remaining/countdown" display
4. Your map.


If you want to get really fancy, you could include a distance to go and time to go based on the startline and your position, heading and speed.
