Northwest end of Cuba navigation question

From Cabo San Antonio to Marial Hemminway Marina, on the map there seems to be an inside passage part way heading East from the West end of Cuba. Does anyone have any advice on this passage? i.e staying inside the reef heading East.

Re: Northwest end of Cuba navigation question

If you stay inside you will be bucking a counter current I believe. I suggest staying outside far enough to pick up the helping current. Its been a while so someone else might have better info, but that is what my memory tells me.
