OpenCPN charts for S. Pacific

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good OpenCPN chart source for the South Pacific islands...…?

Any other issues or tips with OpenCPN in this part of the world....?

For the Solomon Islands these satellite imagery charts are available:

And they correspond to the anchorages:

A yacht is there now collecting more anchorages which I am waiting for.

CM93 charts are good in New Cal, though not recently updated.

I believe CM93 is a chart format but not a chart source.

Where are you getting your CM93 charts? C-map has them but according to C-map, they are not compatible with Open CPN.

Of course they are, hundreds are using them but sometimes they are not accurate.

If you PM me I'll tell you where you can download them.

Also, a lot of people are creating their own charts of the south pacific using Sat2Chart which can create charts from SasPlanet and Google earth.

Both US and NZ charts are free and has some limited coverage of Pacific Islands.
US coverage here:


Cmap currently market CM93 v3 charts that are up to date and not compatible with OpenCPN.
An older format, CM93 v2, is compatible with OpenCPN, but are not updated and at least 5 to 7 years old.

It looks like the U.S. covers Hawaii....which make sense.
Can you send another screen shot showing any coverage further south......it looks like some of Polynesia is covered, I assume by NZ.
How about further west...….i.e. Vanuatu or New Caledonia

Unfortunately the link to download "FrenchPolynesiaRev1" files isn't working anymore. Any thoughts about it?

After a couple hours researching for it all, OpenCPN and charts, I could finnaly find some charts that seems to be updated (Nov, 2022). I don't know how this compare to the chart presented in the document but I certainly would like to check.

Can you check the French Polynesia v1 link? It's not working anymore.

Yesterday after some research I've found some charts (OpenCPN bsb/kap files) for the region that seems to be updated.

Here is the page where I've downloaded it from (government of New Zealand?):

TheChartLocker.com has free MBTile charts for nearly all the Pacific Island groups east of PNG.
