Raymarine Radar RD424 4Kw MOD PSU/PCB

Hi there all



my poor old radar PCB has given up the ghost, the PCB has died after water ingress. Im looking to see if any one has one for sale or they know of a repair center that can bring it back to life ?



Raymaine dont want to know about it and want me to buy another radar the upsell I guess

Iv looked all over the place, it would be easier to find hens teeth than these things, Raymarine don`t even want to know me, that`s unless I want to upgrade ....... at their prices hell no !


But I may be in luck as another forum member many have one or two kicking around, lets hope

AHHHHHH - In my poor ability at typing I have failed to put a "D" at the end of the RD424.

For any one else who has this problem, and fails to get the right response here is what I have found -



1) Yes Raymarine will repair this unit for £795.00 less postage (they will install a new part and test) I`m not sure if this means if more bits are broken they charge you more.



2) You can replace the unit your self (no guarantees it will still work) these units are hard to find but Iv found around 3 here in Europe and one in

Malaysia all of which are around 400.00 (and yes a HD MOD/PCB will fit and replace the digital radoms PCB unit)

3) Buy another digital dome and rip the guts out of it to replace yours , this is also a very goo option because you dont need all the other crap that goes with a dome you just need the internals.



So from what I have found if your dome bites the dust your f@@ked unless its an analog one then parts for these are everywhere, hell i`m even trying to get rid of them. But if your willing to go google mad and search you can find parts - but here`s the kicker the costs are up their I have a 24" dome which is hard to ship or transport so you could just chuck it over board and get another on insurance i guess.
