atholl...

I am sorry, during the setup period the link is password protected,
but will be lifted shortly.. anyway, try ´refeno´

The participants are slowly heading for the startline in Recife.
You can see a lot of informative photos and also a link to the
Cabanga Yachting club which is the host for the regatta.

Enjoy!!

Choose the first option RGS-ALL from the REFENO menu and you will find a link on the left side to a photo album regarding the regatta.

Hi Tore,

We are anchored off the Pernambuco yacht club {S/V Byamee from Australia} . We are not in the race but we are enjoying all the activity . I hear there was a big party last night.Looking forward to seeing all the yachts head off on Saturday. Which boat is yours are you in the marina ? I know there are alot of boats who cannot get in because of draught.

Hi Tom..

Yes,there was a great gathering last night with traditional Feijoada with beer and whiskey to finish. They had a great band as well and around 400 guests enjoyed the opening of the regatta by the Commodore.

I had an invitation to come along on board Avatar but unfortunately this year I had to decline. Me and Jason from SpotWalla have been busy providing the internet infrastructure of the regatta for all to enjoy.

I visited several major Australian ports in my sea going days and even worked as a painter for a month at Summer Hill,a suburb of Sidney..... How about some shrimps on a barbie? and some full bodied Aussie beers?

Good on ya Tore. Our house is not far from SUMMER HILL we live in drummoyne. Tomorrow we will visit Olinda it is still blowing 15-22 knots here with some choppy seas there are still yachts arriveing every few hours .We heard today that the wind is unusually strong for this time of year.

Re: REFENO Regatta-Recife to Fernando do Norhona

Tom..

Well, whatta you know!! You live nearby Summer Hill.
We used to run the emigrant trade between Germany and Australia in those days. Assisted passage cost UK pound 5.- but you had to stay a minimum of 5 years.

The wind presently around Recife is between 8 to 16 knots,SE as usual.

I am doing the route optimization based on the latest grib reports for the regatta.

Re: REFENO Regatta-Recife to Fernando do Norhona

s.y. Mussulo II from Ilhabela Yachting Club is presently leading the race, following the optimized route (with blue arrows) prepared with qtVlm.

Predicted speed is 8.44 kn, Mussulo is doing 8.22 kn, pretty good!!

You can also read the predicted TWD (true wind direction) and TWS (true wind speed) from Mussulo´s position adjoining the optimized route.

Only 25 boats are visible presently out of a total 70 with SPOT equipment.
Not sure what happened to the missing 45 boats???
