s/v Aegan not hit by freighter but ran aground - panel

An independent review panel investigating the deaths of four sailors said it believes the 37-foot sailboat Aegean ran aground on North Coronado Island off the Mexican coast on April 28 during the Newport to Ensenada Race.

To me the most eye opening fact is that three of the four are believed to have died of blunt force trauma.

I mean, what could they have been doing, 11 knots or so max!? Probably more like 6 or 7!?

The other day the owner of the 100T motoryacht I'm on went through a 65' wide channel with a blind double 90 degree "S" turn in it at eight knots without having bow or stern thrusters available, and I have to say it scared the crap out of me!
