Seaclear II and Garmin Etrex

Am attempting to connect a Garmin Etrex to a laptop via Serial to USB cable.

I appear to have a connection as I can see the incoming Nmea data scrolling down the screen using the "Nmea in" utility under the system menu. Despite this the program will not recognise the incoming data and fails to display position.

Any ideas.

Send a message via Skype™ to phiggins
In the NMEA output do you see a $GPRMC.... message? If not SeaClear will not get a position.

Seaclear Garmin

I did have the correct $gprmc but no lat long. Realized I had the Etrex in demo mode to save me going outside. Changed to normal and fixed it. I can now walk round my front lawn carrying the laptop and garmin at 2.9 knots!
