St Thomas => Grenada

Greetings all. I know it’s not the optimum time to do it, but I have to sail our Lagoon 450F catamaran from St Thomas to Grenada around July 18-20. I would love to hear anyone’s suggestions for route and any tips or advice on making this journey. Is it worth going as a sparrow flies or to hug the islands all the way down. Also what are the best islands, regarding checking in and leaving. Looking for the quickest but safest route, as I will have a paid crew. Thanks in advance for any information. Fair winds to all.

Have not made that exact trip, but in my experience the "French" islands are the easiest to check in/out.

I would think much depends on the wind direction and how well your vessel goes to windward. Closer to the islands you can sail in the lee and get a break from the sea state.
