tablet for opencpn.

I'm considering a 10" tablet to run opencpn on, so...

Is it workable? I had it running for a moment on a nexus 7 but it seemed too fiddly so restored back to android.

Which one? Don't want to spend too much money, built in GPS would be nice but no need for 3g.

Assuming it will be rooted straight away - then Linux?

Motorola Xoom any good?

I'll be in Hong Kong for a couple of days next week, worth looking for a deal on one of those?

This does not replace android! The chroot linux environment runs along side android. You can switch back and forth between them.

Love my Xoom. It's a 3g/wireless, MZ601. Motorola XOOM MZ601 - Full phone specifications

Make sure you buy an unlocked version, not from a phone company either new or used!

The Sony xperia z looks nice as well, might up the budget a bit.
Waterproof as well

Would opencpn run on that?

Hmm, Motorola Xoom or Sony xperia z.....

The Sony is waterproof, big plus.

Has anyone actually had opencpn running on an xperia z tablet?

Or any other thoughts?
