What's to say flat can't also be round? It's not binary.

What's really important is how it self-identifies.

Re: The Earth is flat!

NOAA created a video out of a series of photos showing earth axis tilt causing the seasons.

This link is not recommended for flat earthers

https://twitter.com/NOAASatellites/s...69576259596288

So all NOAA weather predictions/forecasts are based on the fact that earth is a sphere.

Question: Where do flat earthers get their weather forecasts from before going sailing ?

Maybe they don't sail for fear of sailing off the edge of the world?

Re: The Earth is flat!

I think it’s pretty clear that every flat-earther is just doing it to wind people up. There may have been one or two who originally believed the earth was flat but now it is a group of people who’ve found a fun way to troll every half-way logical person on the planet. Good on them, it’s less anti-social than some other ways of trolling people.

But after some googling I found out this is all rather serious!!

So I was just wondering, are there any Yachties/Boaters who believe the earth is flat?

This could bring out a few Trolls!!! Sorry.
Absolutely! This is why those boaters (only) parades make sure to have boats with limited horizontal range and insurance covering frequent local sinking only.
Better safe than sorry (well, almost... )

The earth might be hollow. Where is the science that proves that it isn't?

I was going to dispute this. Science denial can and does affect all of us. Then I read this:

Thank you. I needed that. Far better to just move on than to try to cite all the thousands of facts which prove someone wrong.

Re: The Earth is flat!

That’s a good question. Knowing the density of all elements we could calculate how big the cavity is based on what you want to assume the core of the earth is made of.

They knows it’s not hollow because of seismic sounding.

The Earth is not flat.
Vaccines work.
We’ve been to the moon.
Chemtrails aren’t a thing.
Evolution is a fact.
We are all made of stardust.

Stand up for science.

Well I am not certain about All of the Earth, but I can agree with this remark as to the great State of Florida.

I came to the same conclusion. Except that I believe there is a certain percentage that are actually ... well, let's say "not-so-intelligent" and that actually believe it. And even some intelligent people who are simply very gullible.

Anyway, because of Poe's law, it's impossible to sort them out and therefore pointless to engage any of them.

Re: The Earth is flat!

"Basic scientific facts" are usually just what one "believes." In the 1890s, almost every scientist believed in "luminiferous ether." When I was in high school, I remember two outlandish theories described in Scientific American: continental drift and a meteor causing the dinosaur extinction.

"Everybody believes" Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity, but they still keep testing it to see if it really works. The whole idea of science isn’t to believe it’s right, but to prove it’s wrong, if one can.

Re: The Earth is flat!

I did meet a flat Earth-er circumnavigator in Fiji. He believed in other conspiration theories too.

The funny thing was he seemed otherwise intelligent enough... just had too much time in his hand to watch YouTube videos and didn't learn evaluate information from misinformation.

Nearly everyone believes in something that others might find ridiculous. This is the age of multiple truth.

He was from the US and in his 70-s.

Re: The Earth is flat!

The flat earth discussions I have heard have come from nerds (think "Big Bang Theory") who enjoy the thought experiment of explaining how things would work if it was true. And who enjoy even more the reactions of people who take them seriously.
