When someone asks me why I practice celestial navigation I tell them to read a book called "Red Sky in Mourning" and then ask me again.

I was standing at the end of the south breakwater pier in Muskegon, Michigan one day taking a series of sights on the sun. An elderly lady came up to me and asked what I was doing. I explained that I was using a sextant to figure out exactly where I was. She said "you damn fool, you're standing at the end of the south breakwater in Muskegon!" Then she walked away shaking her head.
