We are all sailors, used to "Events" and this is not really a hardship. I guess there are also too many of us so it becomes more difficult for the server. I understand the issue with redundancy, maybe 1200 x $5 paypal would help with that? Seems like that's very reasonable, I have no idea what the paid races charge.

Grib Update Schedule

From the FAQ FAQ/en - VlmWiki

Weather GRIB files are downloaded from NOAA every 6 hours, at 3h35, 9h35, 15h35 and 21h35 UTC, these forecast are not continuous but in steps of 3h between the various forecast (0h (observations), 3h, 6h, 9h... 24h). VLM makes an interpolation between two time stamps.
New forecast is used by VLM a few minutes after each download ... and there could be small or even big jump in wind info at that time, depending of the quality of previous forecast.
GRIB files used by VLM are available here: Index of / and come from the NOAA.

English qtVlm Wiki - Its a little confusing getting around because the menus are not translated. QtVlm/en - VlmWiki

Here is a link to the English version of the qtVlm Forum, "La Tavern" English forum - La Taverne The translation is not operating on the full page, and beware that the translator is not perfect! Also you need to complete a free registration to use the forum. - It should be noted that this website does not work with Google Translate, you get a 404 error, which is very unfortunate, as it makes much of the website inaccessible, except by cutting and pasting actual messages into Google Translate. It would be very nice if this Forum was a little more international with a unified selection for languages. (Boy, aren't we getting spoiled by the internet!) Maitai is very helpful and does translate comments on the English thread in this forum.
Google Translate can also be very helpful.

Engine (to say that for a sailing game is a bit strange) is not up yet. Decision has been taken to restore positions as of yesterday 23h11, just before the cut. Engine (lol) will start again somewhere between 16 and 17 UTC. We all feel sorry for that, it's a very rare case and not really under our control (and we don't have money for a more serious provider).

So far so good, good winds all.

Edit qtVlm Wiki - you must sign up using the direct French interface here (google translate returns error). Register to Edit Wiki
First line enter 3 letters: VLM
Nom d’utilisateur : user name

Conifrm password: xxxx
Real Name:
Then hit Creere un Compet
and go ahead and complete the rest of your preferences, including selecting English.
The entire menu system then seems to be in English, so there are two reasons to Register!

Under "Marks" I would like a way to delete large numbers of marks, either by highlighting them in a list box (using typical Windows controls and short cuts) or by giving a range of numbers (beginning and end).

You can select an area and right-click->"delete all marks"

VLM server has restarted. That's the 2nd time to my knowlege that something like that happens. Good wind to all, good news is that reals have catch us
