Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

You made it. I have 5 hrs & 60nm chasing it. Right now, Frog's crew 1-6 seems to nip into finish just after me, but the gribs keep changing.

You can add a new section in the english wiki, just edit the main page to do so

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Good morning. Ok will try. Looks like Frog's advance arrives just 15 min after me, less time than it takes to grib & route! Grib changes could be significant. Maybe I'll be under 100? I will welcome the finish in any event.

In 3 1/2 days there's a giant Eastward blow from Nova Scotia/Newfoundland almost to England, that would be a fast trip for some nut to try.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Maitai, I added my qtVlm Virtual Race page to the Tutorial page with sub links, then made a list of all english pages I could find. Then got going translating a few pages like FAQ and Grib Esteem and I realized that many of the pages are not where they should be located because they were not named with the page name and an "/en" to put them in the english directory.

I am going to try to fix this over time, once I get one done, it should be pretty straightforward. Then I think we need to work on organizing and integrating it. A lot has been done already however, and some of what I wrote is duplicating, so perhaps I can fix that too.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

With the new grib, there's just 80 minutes separating the Frog leaders and my arrival at the finish!

PS I added qtVLM to the main VLM/en page under Routeurs right HERE because I always arrived there and could not find qtVlm english

What does "Routeur English written pages" mean?
Also the Routeur tool seems to be some other routing tool, perhaps an early version.
As does the FAQ of Routeur - Does this still apply? - I translated a qtVlm FAQ that is different.

Hope my changes aren't messing something up.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Yes the "Routeur" is another software so don't touch its wiki. FrogTool (FT) is also another routing sofware for VLM. As far as I see what you did is correct. Many thanks for taking the time, as usual the documentation is always lagging behind the development...

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

I added Frogtools and re-titled the Software section. Have translated some essential pages for Polars, Polar Diagrams, Polar use, and added to and reconfigured the english wiki qtVlm page for more complete and better understanding. There is still a lot to do, including adding the /en, but that's for another time.

You and Kirke just passed Angra do Heriosmo. I'm coming up on S.Roque do Pico. - The Azores, I was there once a long time ago! Azores seem further south than I remember.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Yeah I decided on the north option some hours ago. ETAs were similar and grib looked more windy that way up. And I had to do something annoying for kirke

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

I started to go north (see my jog) because of the stronger wind, then checked my original plan more carefully and it was still favored... Have gone down to 61 and back up to 78 now, but its nice to have made up some distance somewhere along the way from Brazil, and now be sailing reasonably behind Kirke some 15nm.

Not too many more grib updates left.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Maybe we should get serious about Boatsitting. My problem is I am still learning and a little intrepid about screwing up someone else's plans for his/her boat. This has been a long race! I think it started Nov 8, 2012 and here it is Jan 16, 2013. How many miles was the course?
