Re: Weird sky yesterday in the PNW

Nah.
Freaky is from the old "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" and Irwin Allen, and the sky literally being on fire.

Although, the simple relationship between dust devils and tornadoes DOES still bother me.

They don’t move either, the air does of course but the cloud stays stationary. It does this because the perfect conditions to form a cloud stay in one spot so the cloud is forming and dissipating at the same time.
Again, going off of memory.
I’ll see if I can find a video, it’s strange looking.

Re: Weird sky yesterday in the PNW

I have never seen anything like those before.

Not nearly as impressive but I did watch cloud forming in one spot then dissipating within 1/2 mile or so. I have seen that since but this was extreme, like watching a steam stack at a power station but someone had erased the stack. The cloud was just pouring out of one spot in the sky from clear air.

How about these guys.
I saw them in Tx. Just before the Mother’s day massacre in Ft Hood, where thunderstorms wrecked tens of millions of dollars of aircraft.

On edit, hundreds of Millions of dollars
