West Michigan ideal draft?

Newbie Question: If i buy a bluewater cruiser with a 6' draft, am I going to be frustrated sailing West Michigan, around Muskegon, Holland, Grand Haven, Saugatuck, etc?

I'd hate to get a big deep keeled boat only to realize I'd made a big mistake because I can't get into half the ports. How much is too much keel depth in this area?

I'm a big fan of shallow draft but unless the paticular marina is too shallow (a real possibility with low lake levels) overall, these are all deep water ports. They bring freighters into Grand Haven and Musketon.
