Dye Markers.

Why don't we hear about dye markers?

You know, that dye the water and make you more visible, especially from the air?

I think there should be at least one in every life raft, and a few on the boat.

Any thoughts?
Some brands better than others?
Should one be attached to your life vest in case of MOB ?

Re: Dye Markers.

Absolutely should have dye markers. Even carry one in your lifejacket.

Re: Dye Markers.

I've been involved with training using out-of-date dye markers taken from repacked life rafts. In fact, that's a pretty good source if you need some extras.

They are fantastic for daytime distress signals! Almost unbelievable how well they work. I carry some in my flare boxes. I haven't tested the smaller ones for use on a life jacket, but it's an excellent idea.
