GPIRB Use on Another Boat

My GPIRB (IPRO 406 MHz GPS) is registered to me and my boat. I will, however, be crossing the Pacific with a friend on his boat while my boat remains in on the hard. I am considering taking my GPIRB in my ditch bag as an alternate / backup to his EPIRB and his ditch bag. Is it important to temporarily change the registration to link my GPIRB to his boat? Where might I find the procedure to do so?
Advice appreciated,

Thanks, Wayne
I should have known that.
FYI - I went to the site, and of course botched my password entry and got locked out. No password reset feature. The 'call for assistance' number provided returned a recording "the person that you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time". This is not very encouraging for a 24/7 global SAR service.
