lots of dead bodies found on boats this year.

Pretty shocking news, actually thruout 2021. In just the Caribbean...

Separate incidents with 20, 14, 9, 50, 6, 5 to 10!

If you refer to the EU asylum politics which basically is the reason that people go to sea in absolute inadequate vessels operated by paid people smugglers, yes, you are right. Shame on us (or more specific: shame on Germany and many German NGOs who subscribe to an irrational hubris and are the reason for those deaths).

No (afaik) people die in the waters of e.g. Australia or Canada. They don't equate SAR with automatic asylum.

Sorry to write so bluntly. But shame doesn't change a thing. Nor does blaming "the rich" (Germany e.g. hardly can sustain, let's say, 300 mio. migrants and considering the discussions about working until 70 the country might not be "as rich" as you think). -- A more realistic and human migration policy would stop these sad news about dead bodies!! It's you, the citizen who takes the ultimate (but tiny little) blame that such a misguided approach (since 2015) can sustain and people die. Sorry again, but these are the facts (as I currently see it..)

How about blaming the countries that are so corrupt that people will risk death in order to escape?

AFAIK there aren't a lot of places people are trying to flee that are less than 1,000 miles from Canada....maybe, just maybe, that's the reason?

And more than 1,000 migrants have died trying to reach Australia, so "as far as you know" doesn't appear to be very "far" when it comes to knowledge on this particular subject.

I unfortunately spent many years doing migrant interdiction in the Coast Guard. Based on that personal experience, I understand that the factors that drive desperate people into dangerous sea voyages in unsafe boats are complex and nuanced. Also based on that personal experience, it's clear you haven't done the work required to hold an opinion on this subject at this point. Please either do the work or remain silent, parroting talking points accomplishes nothing. Thank you.

Re: lots of dead bodies found on boats this year.

I came to the US legally. I waited my turn. Why blame the receiving country. Blame the countries they come from and their corrupt systems.
We have a covid epidemic...economy not so great...and we took in 2 million undocumented last years who are not educated and not tested for illnesses. That it insane. That said, I do not blame those who want to come...I blame the country they are going to for not doing their job with immigration. We can not allow anyone and everyone to come before we become a third world country ourselves and destroy our own infrastructure. I grew up in So Cal since 1967. Close your eyes and let me drop you in Los Angeles and looks just like those third world countries.

The comment is present tense.
If the words were "No people have died " your opinion would be correct.

Stop the boats, stop illegal immigrant deaths at sea.
The maths is simple but the policy considerations are difficult to manage
