Mosquito Protection

There's an interesting article about a US firm that's developed a product that gives you protection from mosquitoes for 48 hours without using pesticides. It's crowd funded so if you donate $35.00 you get 10 patches and 10 patches are sent to Uganda. I can't post the site address here but if you google "daily mail" and "mosquitoes" and "malaria" you'll get directed to the link.

Re: Mosquito Protection

The Kite Patch uses non-toxic compounds that disrupt mosquitoes' ability to find people through CO2 for up to 48 hours.

The technology was developed by Olfactor Laboratories and the University of California at Riverside, with backing from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.

I'm always wary of anything that is meant to prevent the little blighters. I have horses so this time of year is viral for all things flying. West nile is a worry as it has been found in the UK and is also can be fatal to my furry friends.
I've found that most deet or citronella based sprays etc seem to attract them more.
Be interesting to see if these patches worked in the field or more extreme environs but here in the UK I'll stick to my home made no sprays; myself and my horses seem significantly less attractive that way ironically.
