you're right, Bill, just buying them longer instead of wider doesn't work (and if they get wet and start rubbing on your heel -- OUCH!)

Simple solution. Buy them online. That's what this fat-footed sailor does!

I have occasionally worn Dunham boat shoes, but I tend to bust out of the sides, even after I stretch them a bit with shoe trees. Ever try to repair a shoe tree? The shop's right by the place where they fix buggy whips, calibrate Walker Logs and block fedoras.

Thanks for saving me time by advising me to avoid Rugged Sharks. I think what I really need is to find a basketball player who's inspired by Morgan Freeman instead of Jay Z...and has a boat.

I don't think Crocs make good boat shoes.

Re: Semi-Fat Footed Sailors

Sorry Guys, I couldn't try on the Rugged Shark 13 Wide, I'm out of them! I see my West Palm Beach store has a 13 wide Rugged Shark Atlantic and a 13 wide Marlin. I'll get a pair transfered down but I doubt we'll be sending a truck until after the Miami International boat show.
Snore, Hopkins-Carter in West Palm Beach carries Rugged Shark, and apparently has a better selection than the Miami store.
Alchemy, The Skunk Ape is the Everglades version of Big Foot, but he doesn't smell as good.

Re: Semi-Fat Footed Sailors

Glad you found some shoes that fit well and feel good. In the future, you might try"

Zappos.com

or

OnlineShoes.com

They carry EVERY size: short, long, narrow, to EEEEE. My husband had wide feet and this is where I order his shoes.

Free shipping in BOTH directions (if you need to return). So, there is no cost in trying something and sending it back. However, you have to "shop in advance" and allow enough time. No immediate gratification, but no traffic either
