Sending Replacement Computers to Far away places

Does any one have any suggestions about the possibility of sending a used laptop to the Philippines from the US?

Are there any Customs restrictions on that?

Has anyone done that successfully?
If so, how was it packed?

What service would you suggest? UPS, Fedex, US Postal???

How long do you think it would take and how likely would it get there in one piece and through customs?

Thanks for your help

Rick

Re: Sending Replacement Computers to Far away places

First to what purpose?

Assuming it is for a charitable donation, it's probably going to be a lot cheaper and simpler to hook up with a local charity and give them money. Basic laptops are pretty cheap. By the time you go thru the hassle of collecting, packaging, shipping and getting thru customs, it's likely going to be cheaper just to send $300 and have them buy a brand new computer.
