St. Martin Dingy Theft gets bolder

Lock it or loose it the locals say. Last Tuesday 7/23/13 thiefs stole a cruisers dingy that was locked at the busy and popular Barnacles dingy dock in Sint Marrten. Unusual since it was taken in broad daylight, with many cruisers sitting at the near by bar, and it Was Locked! We had pulled in to provision, and were tied up close by, but our beat up sunburnt dirty dingy was passed by for an Achilles 9, with a 9.9hp engine, owner is now bound for Antigua. Shrimpy's (runs the local cruisers net on VHF 10) has more info if you know anything. I am outbound for the states, sorry I can't post more info, but be advised Simpson Bay and Margot has had a increase in stolen dingys seems there is a few guys working together in stealing, and are getting really good at cutting the locks. Take care, rich t
