Re: Swimming With Caution

swiss yachtie got killed by a croc checking his anchor in the Santa Cruz Islands, Utupua Island. according to an article in "Die Zeit" they only found his swimfins & the widow returned & donated money for a school which is now named after the poor husband "Messerli School" (ridiculous as it sounds, "Messerli" in german is diminutive for "knife")

Re: Swimming With Caution

In terms of swimming danger . . . Look up electric shock drowning.

Re: Swimming With Caution

Only a fool would swim near or in estuaries from Townsville around past Darwin to past Broome. Only a fool would swim anywhere from Cape York to past Broome unless well out to sea. Sharks are unpredictable, dangerous species may eat you, crocodiles are predictable, they will eat you.

Made me laugh. Well said, but it does dampen my mood about cruising the Queensland coast.
