Overcharging in the marine industry...

Could we not call one working in the marine industry who overcharges a pirate?

Lastly, if anyone has a story of being approached in southeast asian waters - esp. if it first appeared to be a piracy attempt but later turned out not to be
I was once in a Jacuzzi in Thailand and was approached by a couple of "dodgy looking characters". I was preparing to repel boarders. but fortunately things turned out "nasty"............but nice

Does this count?

Oh, and I was once on a Pedallo in Florida when someone shouted at me, I didn't catch exactly what they said. But I shot them anyway. just in case. and in any case as I was in the USA I figured it was polite to do what I thought a local would have done.

Too funny, David!! Ha ha ha...

You made the right move. Those Floridians could have easily waded out to your Pedallo (I'm assuming this is a boat you can pedal on a lake?) and robbed you. "When in Rome...."

It was quite fortunate (for me anyway) that I had read the recent threads on keeping Firearms onboard. Thanks folks.

(a Pedallo only on a lake?? where I come from they are also Ocean going.........due to a lack of lakes )

Chris31415, No they are called "Land Sharks". they can easily cost you an arm, if your caught by surprise, then a leg too, and in some extremes, they could cost you both arms and legs and we have to start calling you Bob.

Do we need some more nouns...

So what do we call those in the marine industry who are nice people, but hopelessly incompetant?
Or those know-it-alls who give totally incorrect information?

And bureaucrats, can't forget them, nope! If anybody's gonna screw up boating for good it'll be the politicians and bureaucrats, Yup! I guess from some of the stories I've read on here there's some harbour masters can be considered pirates too!
