Useful to know. We bought ours to be a pressure cooker, everything else was just gravy. Or not, maybe.

We use our multi-cooker more often as a slow cooker that as a pressure cooker.

It does a great job on curries, stews/casseroles, chilli etc

interesting video I actually have never experienced 90% of the issues she seems to have had with her $30 rice cooker When cooking in my $15 rice cooker unit. And always better than the stove top . Don't feel a need to but an expensive rice cooker . Better a cheap one and a few years worth of diesel.

Yes but hers is 30 years old or so

Also, she is a professional chef and can cook perfect rice on the stovetop. The rice cooker I started this thread with is only $10 more than the red one she tested (it’s $39.99 or so) and doesn’t brown the rice and I think a new one like the red doesn’t either.

I’m pretty sure she can pick out the Zojirushi rice because it’s her profession but I think I couldn’t tell the difference. She also explains that jasmin rice is relatively easy so for other types of rice the Zojirushi can make sense. Last but not least: she is in Canada where the dollar is worth less, so that $200 Zojirushi is much less in the USA

had an old chinaman tell me how to cook perfect rice on the stove every time and it works great . Place the rice in the pan place your finger on the top of the rice. Fill with cold water till it is up to the first knuckle. High heat till the water starts boiling stir the rice and remove from the heat and place a lid on the pan . Let it sit for about 15 minutes or in till the water is absorbed fluff and serve .

But my little rice cooker does just great and I don't have to watch it at all . The best part is it uses the same power as one of my 100 watt solar panels makes in an hour . Always cook it in the afternoon when the batteries are charged up.

Re: All electric galley: rice cooker

We’re out in the Bahamas and all the new gear is functioning fantastic. Tonight we used the rice cooker for 2 cups of Thai jasmin rice, plus the steam basket with frozen green beans and it came out as good as it gets. From a $39 rice cooker that wins low energy consumption hands down

Re: All electric galley: rice cooker

Well, we tried Jasmine rice for the first time (that we know of). Just tasted like rice, to us. Good enough. Nothing special.

Wifey made it on the stovetop; we didn't use the Instant Pot for it, prob'ly only because I've been the IP bubba and she's the stovetop bubbette... and she was handling it, that night.
