I wouldn't leave it to long before taking it up with the office of fair trading. Or better still try and reverse the credit card payment.

only surprising thing is that they lasted so long

cannot imagine what went wrong with their business model but doomed to fail

cheers,

IMO, What went wrong with their business model was not offering any customer service to existing customers or response to sales enquiries. That does impact your revenue.....

They used to be ok, sounds more like a cashflow problem got them.

Companies like these work on some very tight boundaries with paying their suppliers. As soon as the suppliers start to insist on payment before delivery the business is doomed.

Re: Arnold's Boat Shop Sydney Australia

They were still taking orders up until a few days ago, which is a pretty shady practice - Friend of mine bought a whole load of stuff off them this week, only to now get an email saying they are going into administration and that they will not get their order and no refund.

As they paid by credit card, I think they will be OK.

Re: Arnold's Boat Shop Sydney Australia

Well i did get almost all my order a few days ago (2 months after placing). Only one crucial item missing but only a $10 bit so not the end of the world. What I think went wrong was they promised too much. I.e this part will ship in 3-6 days when they don’t have it in stock and nor does the supplier. And then were poor at communicating.

I talked to whitworths and one other company who both said they were having problems and might be waiting up to 6 months for some things, but they told me this up front and on certain items advised me either to buy something else or try and find anyone with it in stock. Whitworths (local branch) even gave me names of companies who might still have an item in stock. That is the customer service I like.

Interestingly company website still up not saying in administration. That said I wasn’t game enough to try to buy anything.

That would explain the last 12 months of complaints. The owners possibly kept it running just enough to claim the payments.

Re: Arnold's Boat Shop Sydney Australia

I ordered some 300.00 worth of stuff in Jan and had the same issues and after about 4 weeks demanded a cancellation and refund and they refunded so i am happy i did not wait too nlong. Still sad to see this business gone as it once was a good business to purchase from.

Re: Arnold's Boat Shop Sydney Australia

Ordered about $1000 worth of stuff at the end of march from these muppets. Their shop is hosted by Shopify, I've emailed them to report them and hopefully have their site shuttered, or at least the payments part so they stop taking peoples money.

Looks like someone named Arnold Le Rutte owns Nold Trading Pty Ltd which owns the business name. Not much info on Arnold on the web, curious if anyone has any other details on him and his sketchy drop shipping businesses

I agree. Also these people help us boaties, to keep the price of goods competitive. Victim of Covid they had great difficulty of getting goods from suppliers.
