Bob,

Your 604 is the same as my 602 I think. Let us know here how the mike-cords are doing in a couple of years. All my cords started breaking the outer cover after 2 years (we're in the tropics) and after 4 all of them are shot, incl. the inside cord for the mike on the radio itself. I hope they improved that....

Uniden Wireless

I had a bad experience with Uniden radio and WAM mic. The remote mic speaker lost connectivity with base station frequently and channel scrolling was painfully slow. I got so frustrated, I returned it to WM and replaced it with a SH and wired mic. Much better results. I just ran into another cruiser in Key West who has the Uniden and had the same problems. Great idea, but poor engineering.

Standard Horizon now offers optional Bluetooth kit for some of their VHF radios (for use up to 30 feet away).

Yeah, but then you have to be concerned about the battery in the remote. Remember, none of us need a VHF ...until the day you NEED it.
