iPad Waterproof Cases

iPads, and such devices, are being used more and more for navigation. For many, that requires the expensive device to be used in a, sometimes, wet cockpit.

Does anyone have first-hand experience with any of the so-called "waterproof" cases for the iPads and other devices? What has been your experience? Does it work? What are your thoughts?

We've tried a number of them and I like the Lifeproof Nuud series best. That said the case can tend to crack at the corners. We currently have one iPad with a crack in all four corners, and Lifeproof/Otter would not stand behind it. It was three days beyond warranty when I finally got through to them, this after multiple calls and huge on-hold waits, yet I had photographic evidence it was cracked when it was technically in warranty. Nice cases, customer support could be better.

It would be so easy for a company to stand behind its products and perpetuate "good will." I'll never understand how that's not done.

I like the LifeProof Nuud case too. But be sure they have a case for your model of iPad. They have cases for iPad 2 and iPad Pro models but not for the iPad 2017. It has the same exterior dimensions as the iPad 2 but different screen size.

+1 Nuud. I’ve used for a few years on my iPhone, and it’s been dropped on deck or pavement several times w/o problem. It’s the only waterproof case I’ve found that leaves the glass uncovered, w/o plastic covering. Relies instead on gasket around the screen. Much less likely to scratch. Just bought one for my new iPad
