Angry jackrabbitmarine.com

After consulting with members on this forum on which brand of electronics to buy, I ordered from jackrabbitmarine over $3000. worth of merchandise. Prior to ordering online, I talked to Peter to confirm that the merchandise was available and not BO. He said it would be available the following day (07-23-08). My credit card was charged the totat amount on that same day. The order confirmation mentionned that an email with tracking information will be sent when the order ships.
I have yet to received any email nor merchandise 19 days after being charged for it. My dozen phone calls ended up with an automatic message to contact them via email, and my emails have remained unanswered.
My reseach on the net did not identified this company as unreliable. What is happening with this outfit. Next time I will stick with online vendors that specify no charge until the merchandise ships.

If the item is going to Canada...there may be a delay....
I have charged items from Canada and there was a long wait for shipping.
Certified Checks I have received from Canadian Customers normally take 21 or more
business days to clear.

Hmmm. I have had the same experience on a test purchase to see how they perform, my only saving grace is my credit card has never been accessed.

This has been over a month ago. I tried fruitlessly to contact, I finally left a "question to seller" on their Ebay store and finally got an email reply.

I hope they do come through as they do have some interesting gear and good prices.

Don't know what's going on but, I hope it works out

Thanks Chief Engineer
The items are to be shipped in the states and payment was by credit card. The merchandise has been paid for 19 days and nothing has left the warehouse yet. And no communication. Not a good example of consumer support.
Any suggestion apart from cancelling the order which I do not want to do as time to install this equipment is becomming an issue?

Why not send them an e-mail with a link to this page?

and BTW when you do get your stuff, explain to us on this board what the problem was, and if they were helpful/apologetic, etc.

Jack Rabbet was purchased from the founder by Peter (I suspect). It was a mom and pop operation and the old man was very decent and reliable. Peter, it seems, is trying, be a marketing wiz and go after not only power systems by nav instruments.

My sense is that the company is not the same old reliable operation it once was. The new owners have a different approach to customers, it's their dollars they want, not the repeat business.

Well, It has been 21 days since jackrabbitmarine took my money and still nothing. Two more emails and two more phone calls and still nothing. My CC company tells me they can't do anything before 30 days and I guess Jackrabbit knows it too. Pity!

I made a purchase from them about a month or so ago (based on recommendations in an earlier thread here) and was pleased with the price and shipping time to Australia. I had been planning to place another order but will now be watching how this transpires with interest.

Unless there is a very good explanation for the lack of communication I will be looking elsewhere.

I have ordered some n2k connectors and cable from them, they were a bit slow to answer emails, but were thorough with their help and overall the experience was very positive. I think that it is a small operation, and I always like to support the small guy when I can. Odd that they have not contacted you at all, they always got back to me, and I was buying small stuff. Are you talking about ebay purchases? If so, I would expect a different response time from any ebay seller, even if they also do retail/web sales.

I dropped in to Jackrabbit last winter - don't know who the guy behind the desk was but he was decidedly unfriendly telling my buddy and me that they don't sell to the public. I posted on CF then. They will not be getting my trade.

jackrabbitmarine.com store "temporarily" CLOSED.

jackrabbitmarine.com website is now showing CLOSED. Have they gone out of business? It sure looks like it as I have been unable to get the merchandise I paid for and none of my messages are being answered.

Your credit card company should back you up. I believe that it is against the law to bill your credit card until the product ships. UNLESS you agree otherwise (such as for special order items).

Sorry you're having this problem, Maduro.
I purchased from them and Mr. James took special care of my order and even tossed in some small additional items I needed as a gift.
