The pink stuff on gelcoat

Used the pink stuff gel coat looks super shiny. Good idea? Bad idea? Will look closer at the side of the boat I did yesterday but it took out the black scuff marks and actually cleaned it.

Maybe good to polish and wax soon as it's mildly abrasive cleaner

Re: The pink stuff on gelcoat

Pink stuff?

Do you mean, ‘Naval Jelly’*, a pink, phosphoric-acid-based, rust remover?
You can use naval jelly to dissolve rust on any type of iron, steel or ferrous surface.
Naval jelly is not recommended for use on nonferrous materials, including Fiberglass.

* Eg: Loctite Rust Dissolver https://dm.henkel-dam.com/is/content...-2018-04-12pdf

‘FSR’, Fiberglass Stain Remover, is a blue, oxalic acid-based cleaner, for fiberglass, and stainless steel.

Or do you mean some other “pink” stuff?
Eg: ➥ https://pinksolution.ca/

Re: The pink stuff on gelcoat

I buy Wood Bleach at the hardware store. It's nothing but Oxalic acid in powder form. Mix it with water and apply it with a spray bottle. I use it wherever we see rust stains. Rinse well afterwards.Click image for larger version

It's this stuff...

https://www.thepinkstuff.co.uk/, specifically the paste

Seemed to work quite well on the black scuff marks
