You will find few that have tested them, but there are some who have. Do a search as there was a conversation last year about it.

I also suspect there are cheap ones and more expensive ones that make a difference.

The small amount of actual testing I have seen indicates that they help some against hard growth, but are useless for slime and soft stuff. Once the soft stuff gets attached the hard stuff can get started on it, then penetrate to the hull.

Basically they help some but not a lot and do not replace the requirement for paint.
