I really doubt this is what has happened SM. The company has been around, and has been manufacturing these ladders, for over a decade now. I'm sure they know how to price a job.

I do know how frustrating this situation can be. I had a similar scenario happen to me about 10 years ago when I was trying to get a bow roller built from my previous boat. I had extensive discussions with a manufacturer who assured me it would be "no problem." After they had committed to the project and the delivery date, they then strung me on past two deadlines, only to admit at the end that they couldn't (or more likely wouldn't) do the job.

Re: UP-N-OUT boat ladders beware of promises

I’m still struggling with a ladder for our big boat and that brought me back to this subject.

I did a search and found this previous thread.

Edited to add I found this business at the same address.

So I’m guessing he is still “in business” but the up-n-out is just to fill time between big orders.

It’s still not an excuse.

I’ve got an off the shelf telescoping ladder shoved into a cockpit locker right now, the water is a little chilly so haven’t needed to mount it yet, but I’m still pissed about the complete lack of regard for promises made.

I’m not making any excuses for anyone. Just guessing.

BTW how did things conclude? Did you ever send them any money? Did you ever hear from them?

They sent me an apology email after I pointed them to this thread. Their communications are just abysmal.

No money sent, they take ladder orders without a deposit.
