WEBASTO FCF PLATINUM 10,000 BTU MARINE AIR CONDITIONER - 115V

I am seeing some really good prices on this a/c. Looks like it would be a good fit for just the main cabin of my Catalina 36. Anyone have experience with these units and care to comment? Thanks. WEBASTO FCF PLATINUM 10,000 BTU MARINE AIR CONDITIONER - 115V

TIA

I installed the 16k version earlier this year - nice enough unit, no issues

It cools well. Heat, not so much. Running it heat mode it will freeze itself hard. In Auto it will struggle mightily but not freeze up.

Controls are ludicrous stupid. You can’t set the temp in auto mode, you have to set the temp for heat, and then cool, and then choose auto.

It has a 5” outlet with a lip of about 1/4” to attach duct to. Good luck finding 5” duct in the U.S. I have to duct tape the crap out of mine a couple of times a year.

The set temp varies wildly from the actual temp and every so often it just looses its mind. You go to sleep at 70 and wake up 3 hours later at 85.

The price is good, and it’s quiet… YMMV

So I am moving forward likely with the Webasto. It will replace the Cruisaire 16k split. I am confident I know how to remove the CA but I do have one question. Actually maybe a couple questions. Is it possible to close the bicycle vales on the high and low sides and thus preserve whatever R22 is in the actual compressor/unit? My plan is to close those valves if possible and then cut the copper leaving 6" for the new owner to whom I am basically donating the unit.
