Xylem/Rule

Just wanted to self deprecate and also give a good review of the Xylem/Rule brands.

I bought a Rule LP900S low profile bilge pump a while back but hadn't installed it until a couple weeks ago. It kept auto sensing and running non stop and venting as much water back into the bilge as it was trying to pump out. I cleaned everything well and made sure there were no clogs and it continued doing the same.

One email to Xylem and a day later and they offered to replace it with a different but similar pump at no charge to me. I am now gun shy of the "smart" sending pumps which is a smart version of automatic bilge pump so I asked if instead I could just get a manual Rule 10 2000 GPH and pay them the difference.

They only asked me for my address. Didn't make a stink I didn't want to continue using their "smart" gear and didn't ask me to pay the difference.

That people, is great customer service. Shame on me for buying a middle of the road reviewed bilge pump to start with and undersized for my boat, but bravo to Xylem for sticking behind their product and their brand!

Re: Xylem/Rule

I guess you were lucky that it was less than 1 year old because after that time, bye any warranty

It was, but honestly it wasn't about that. They never even asked me for proof of purchase.

Re: Xylem/Rule

Here (EU) Rule bilge pumps along with Johnson are considered the right light grade stuff. The rest of the brands is seen as the next shelf down.

We have TMC now but I am buying Rule when we replace.

Beware Rule makes float switches too and these are very easy to break - the plastic is too brittle and the screw that hold it down may / will crack the housing.

Cheers,
b.

Yes, I had read the many reviews on their switches and ultimately could not see spending the money for an Ultra Safety Systems switch for a weekend cruiser on a lake, so I went with the Water Witch. I had read mostly good reviews, and it should arrive tomorrow, so we'll see!

It's nice to hear that there are still some companies who know what good customer service is. Thanks for posting this.
