North American Trade

NMMA lobbying for mutual trade agreement.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association is seeking an agreement that would ease trade in recreational boats among the United States, Canada and Mexico.

NMMA outlined its support for such an agreement in a letter that was sent to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. The association expressed support for improved market access for NMMA Certified boats and for harmonizing capacity labels.

The development of some sort of mutual recognition agreement among the countries was put on the agenda of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America talks by Canada. SPP is an initiative to improve regulatory cooperation in order to generate growth while maintaining high standards for health and safety.
