I have at least one copy that I can sell, as long as the buyer is not too fussy about how old it is. PM me if interested.

Re: Please help me find this: Bruce Van Sant;

It's pretty basic conservative logic really. The nice thing about it is that it puts you through the trip mentally so you know what to expect without having done it before. You will get the same information from cruiser's around you along the way.... ie: in Luperon everyone is discussing the trip to Samana, In Samana everyone is discussing the trip accross the Mona to PR etc....

Begs the question... IF a book is out of print.... can it be copied and given away?

Oh my god, this trip to paradise is really bad! Without this guide, it is real tough to get there!

Lowering my price to $399.- !!

Now, that is well below the 900.- market value, isn't it? For those of you who managed to read through this BS, you could PM me for a neat and cheaper solution

ciao!
Nick.

Yeah... Bruce did a great job, but really.... there's really nothing in that book worth that much. Someone needs to get ahold of him and let him know how much they're going for.... he might reconsider doing some more!

Re: Please help me find this: Bruce Van Sant;

p.s. look out with this guide... I once followed some waypoints on the bank in the Turks & Caicos while entering in between Great Ambergris Cay and Little Ambergris Cay and Bruce's waypoints took me straight over a reef. I could zig-zag through there only to find a deep blue highway to enter around that reef. I still don't know if Bruce had a couple to drink the day he wrote that part or what... but that reef was at least 500 years old

These areas you need to be very defensive. Abrahams Bay in the Bahamas (Mayaguana Island) is another example. Go slow and only when you can see the reefs under water.

ciao!
Nick.

As an avid collector of old navigation books i have to agree, I’ve paid silly amounts for a few of the books i have, especially one from the 1930s, it's a beautifully written and illustrated book that was last printed in 1939 (mine's from 36) and extremely collectable......but the info is out of date and pretty much redundant and useless to someone learning Nav today......but that don't matter to a collector....

Having read the book in question i can see its value to a collector, also being out of print helps, but if it's just purely for the info contained for practical purposes that's needed, then all that info and more can be found in plenty of other publications for less than $100 new....
