I forgot to also recommend this book which I read recently:

In The Heart Of The Sea

Amazon.com: In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex: Nathaniel Philbrick: Books

Both of these books are really incredible, great writing and historical largess.
