$70,000 / 40' / Large Cockpit / with Two Double Berths

I am in the market for a blue water boat in the 40 foot range. I have a $70,000 budget to work with that would includes any refitting. I am looking for a boat with a large cockpit and plenty of locker space in the cockpit that can be utilized as a live aboard.

I am also seeking something that includes a double berth exclusive of it being in the bow, or as a table/berth conversion unit in the salon area found on most boats. The trouble I am having is finding a double berth that won't interfere with the size of the cockpit, or locker space.

I find many boat "waste" a lot of space with 2nd heads and chart tables. I can use the salon table as a chart table if necessary to allow room for a comfortable double berth.

I am open to an older boat. Does anyone know of anything out there that may fit these perimeters???

Lonnie - Not sure. Is this a "Wanted to Buy" ad or a thread to identify a boat type?

I'm partial to them, but check out Hans Christian and Union Polaris 36s.

New Thread for type of boat

Sorry for any confusion, my question was to identify types of boats I should be seeking for my next boat. If anyone has a boat that would fit my parameters, I would be interested in hearing from you. I am ready to buy when the right boat comes along.

I will investigate the Hans Christian and the Polaris that was mentioned in the previous post.

I'd look at Cal 39s or 40s too.

Have a look at the Islander Freeport 36 plan B and the CSY 37,both have a large head forward with a permenantly made up double berth cabin just aft of it,i like that layout.
