Re: Advice for a 27'-31' classic monohull for coastal cruising

Look at a Island Packet 27, 29 , 31 or 32 . They have large interiors and shallow keels
Some with a center board. I have an IP32 with a 3.5 draft and a center board to 7 feet. The interior feels as large as most of the 34< 35 foot. Oats we looked at.

Very safe boat and great for the area you want to sail in.

Not more than I want, just more than I can afford What a great boat. BCC has to be my favorite.

I went and looked at a Cape Dory 31 in Atlanta, GA of all places. It's a great boat but that one had a problem with the top gel coat cracking all over. They are really nice and on my short list, for sure. Thanks for the suggestion.

We've been neighbor's on the hard with a Baba for a while. Don't recall if it's a 30 or a 35. It's a beautiful hull, especially below the waterline. I'm just a newb but to me it looks like a fully keeled boat that's built for blue water. Not a racer, but good in seas. The new owner is very happy with it, though he's never had it on the water yet. (He had it trucked here.)

All boats are a compromise. For many the benefits of the Out Islands outweigh the looks. Solid full keel cruiser with a huge interior for it's length.
