A moisture meter is just another in a bag of tools. As was mentioned, every boat is a little different, but its fairly easy to pinpoint spots that show relative moisture in correlation to other areas of the boat known to be dry. For that relationship, I find it useful. Its not about an exact percentage measurement of moisture. And its always used with other tools.

I know a lot of people don't want a boat with mold, but just about any boat is going to have some if its left to the elements any length of time. I use mold as a way to get a better deal. After all, the PO has decided not to clean it, therefore I am forced to break out the power washer and raise holy hell on that interior (utilizing some safety equipment of course). So price should reflect this work.

All depends on what you can tolerate. Some buy new boats (and vehicles) and incur the premium to get that new boat clean and smell. I for one don't mind paying pennies on the dollar, expecting to do a little work!
