Buying in BVI / VI ? Island P 380

I am looking at an IP 380 in the VI's, sight unseen, Pictures and a year old survey look good. But never bought a boat without being on her.

Also the Selling broker is in BVI and the boat is in USVI, which adds and international banking flavor to the deal, which makes me nervous.

Broker wants 10% to hold it, along with a closing window. I figure if the boat looks good and they are willing to take my offer I would put a visit and sea trial as acceptance before closing. It's just a 3.5 hr flight.

Broker claims they will refund my deposit, like I sail he is in BVI...

But would love to hear from other IP owners or people who have done the same.

My thoughts are to spend the winter on her in VI's and sail her back up to Chesapeake Bay in spring or store he down there for hurricane season.

If it were me. I would go down there and have a look before putting a deposit down. If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it’s been on the market forever. A particular concern on that model would be the holding tank. It’s probably is in need of replacing.

There is also a 380 for sale in Deltaville, have you checked that one out?
