Re: Cost to Truck a 43' Boat in the USA?

Try calling the Jeanneau/ Beneteau factory in Marion SC, I am sure they have a reference for Hauling, the factory is land locked.

Call Beneteau factory in South Carolina(if they are still open)
They have truckers that routinely move their new boats to Charleston for international delivery.

Re: Cost to Truck a 43' Boat in the USA?

I paid $4,000 last year from Charleston to Stuart, FL for a 37 foot boat 11.5' beam. Watson Enterprises or Skipper Shipper. Barney 772-285-2432

Make sure you use someone reputable - there are ample horror stories. The above two are good.

Re: Cost to Truck a 43' Boat in the USA?

Not sure if the OP is moving the boat from Lake Lanier but a lot of people seem to use this lake as a end point to bring their ocean boats or as a interim location on the way to the coast. There are a good number of "blue water" boats out there. I have a Westsail 42 a couple of slips down from me, and a beautiful Formosa 51 that is being readied for the ocean a few docks away. Across from my slip is a great young couple that is leaving in the fall on their Tartan 42. Many more examples around the marina.

Anyway don't be too surprised if this is where the boat is coming from.

Call some boat transport companies.

Beam is 12.6', so it should be truck-able. Any idea what the cost would be to truck it either from:

-Atlanta to the nearest convenient ICW port?
-Atlanta to Space Coast of Florida? (say, St. Augustine to Vero Beach?)

Looking for total cost to decommission, truck, and then re-commission. Binding quote not needed--just a good estimate to help us with how economic this purchase would be.

Call Eric at Safe Harbor (https://safeharborhaulers.com/). I used him last summer to haul my Southern Cross 35 from NY to FL, super nice guy and honest.

Yes, this boat is in Lake Lanier. If I buy it, I would sail it elsewhere. Just trying to find out what it would take to get her moved to my sailing grounds.

I did all the prep up to actually removing the mast and stays for the trip up. I could not go back to Florida so paid the yard for this. Once at the destination I did all the rigging work so only paid for travel lift and lifting the mast in place. Below were my costs for a comparison.

I used Eric with Safe Harbor Haulers for transport. I had a great experience with him and would do my best to use him again on my next move which should be in about 3 years

haul out for transportation $1,199.60 *haulout, pressure wash, loading boat
mast removal/prep for transportation $964.34 *
transportation $4,125.00 *
haul in, mast step $558.25 *

Good luck

I used Eric to move my Southern Cross 35 from NY to FL, $6000. I can’t say enough good things about Eric….super good guy, very careful with my boat and was ahead of schedule and under budget.

Re: Cost to Truck a 43' Boat in the USA?

You'll enjoy the Landfall though.
I had one.
Like any boat, it has it's pro's and con's, but a nice liveaboard and pretty good sailor.
Some things I remember.
I liked the 5'6' draft.
Mine was powered by a Westerbeke, which had a hydraulic transmission, so the prop would spin underway. I hated that noise, so I replaced the prop with a maxprop.

Mine had the rod rigging...not sure if this is a standard item...and back stay hydraulic tensioner. I'm not a fan of rod rigging, as it is quite smooth, small diameter and hard to grip.
I had some issues with the original roller furling and eventually had to replace it with a ProFurl.
The boat has two companionways, which I liked. I didn't use the aft companionway to get in and out, but would open it at night for the breeze.
It's an older boat, so won't have holding tanks.
My only really big bugaboo about the boat was that the previous owner had installed a genset right behind the engine right over the shaft stuffing box. This made getting to it very difficult.

I took it to the B'mas several times. Always sailed direct. It has a nice motion at sea.

I see them come up for sale from time to time....always under $100K...pretty good bang for the buck.

Re: Cost to Truck a 43' Boat in the USA?

The cost and "truckability" of your boat also depends on the height from the bottom of the keel to the highest anything on the boat. I trucked a Columbia 43 from Florida to Wisconsin, and I had to remove all the stanchions, my mainsheet traveler, AND my mainsheet winch (located atop the deck house). I think the magic number was 13 1/2 feet from the ground to the highest point. If you exceed this, your costs may go up substantially. Be sure to discuss this with your prospective truckers and measure your boat carefully. You don't want to find out you're too tall when your boat is sitting on the trailer.

Re: Cost to Truck a 43' Boat in the USA?

Thanks to all who have contributed some really helpful quotes, references and observations.

Crazy thought--it appears there are quite a few cruising boats there. Is there a natural waterway to Lake Lanier? Or did all the boats get trucked there? Anyone know? Just looking at Google Maps, I don't see such a waterway. But then, I would not have spotted the Okechobee waterway in Florida that way, either.
