Anya,
Try Rio Dolce, I know in the past when I was up at Marios there always seemed to be a boat or two that was for "desperate" sale. I gather it was because the cruising life just wasn't what they expected (its not for everyone). I know someone down there so I get them in touch with you. I can see your determination to realize your dream. You go girl.
I'll see ya out there,
Erika

love your qoute-it suits you to a tee

Another location, albeit a bit further away from the States, which finds individuals coming to terms with "Cruising isn't all about drinking cocktails and watching sunsets", is Raiatea, in French Polynesia (Society Islands).

Best look for one that someone has placed "on the hard", and has been there a year or two. I was aware of one opportunity a while back, where the asking price was cut by 60% after just one season "on the hard".

check out EBay, sailboats over 28 feet, there are some good buys on there . If you see something you like email the owner ask for pictures and known problems, and make an offer You might be supprised.
Just be prepaired to follow through if they accept.

I've seen a lot of ads for "desperate sellers" recently who seem to be desperate to sell their boats for enough to pay off the boat and the house at the same time!

Weird that with money so tight everywhere people seem to be actually inflating their prices in many places.

I've noticed this, as well, drew.ward, and it is probably a reflection of the loss of purchasing power of the $US. But a willing buyer capable of completing a sale is in a very powerful position these days, and, to such a person, asking prices mean very little.
